Highlighting Our Interns

As a way for our interns to feel valued and appreciated in the office, we decided to create an office questionnaire to celebrate them.

What’s your major?

My major is Design & Environmental Analysis and minoring in Informational Science.

In ten years I see myself:

I see myself living in a city with a career in design. What kind in particular? I’ll have to wait and see.

Although I’m not sure where my path will take me, I know I want to be able to use my creativity in a way that improves people’s lives.

As an interior design or architecture intern I’m learning:

As an intern, I’m learning a lot about what goes into interior design and architecture from the different types of walls and windows to the lighting and finishes.

After working with so many different types of floor plans I find myself noticing and thinking about the small details of a space that I didn’t see before.

My secret?

I’ve always loved art and would like to be an artist on the side. Hopefully, when I retire down the line, I’ll do it full time.

HI, I’M JEWEL INGRAM

I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA, and I couldn’t call anywhere else home. Growing up, I thought everything I made was a masterpiece (although looking back, I wasn’t exactly the young Picasso I thought I was). As I got older, I continued pursuing my art interests, taking AP Studio Art in high school, and it was this interest in art and creativity that led me to Hughes Turner Phillips.

I was fortunate enough to be able to intern with the company last summer and thankful to come back again this year. I love the experience I am getting and the opportunity to learn new skills.

I graduated from Marist School and will be going to college to continue my education at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY in the fall. There, I plan on majoring in Design + Environmental Analysis to explore my interests and learn about creating a sustainable and healthy future through design innovation and research. I love drawing and painting, but my passion lies more in bettering the future with design.

I am not sure exactly what my path will be, but I am excited to find out, and I’m glad Hughes Turner Phillips is helping me do that.
